Sing With Us
Cantico draws on a rotating pool of Catholic singers and musicians across Singapore. If you sing in a parish choir and would like occasional wedding or funeral work, we'd like to hear from you.
Who we’re looking for
- Singers who already serve in parish liturgy. Sopranos, altos, tenors and basses who sing regularly at Mass and are comfortable reading a part.
- Cantors. Singers who can lead a congregation and sing the Responsorial Psalm with confidence.
- Accompanists on organ, piano or guitar, comfortable supporting a cantor, an ensemble or a choir.
What matters most is that you understand the liturgy and sing to serve it. If that’s you, you’ll fit in.
What it involves
- Occasional commitment. You choose which dates you take. There is no minimum and no obligation to say yes.
- Rehearsal ahead of the date. For each booking, we rehearse the music together, usually in the weeks before. Larger groups rehearse more.
- The celebration itself. Arriving early for a sound check, singing the wedding Mass or Funeral Mass, and the waiting time around it.
- Funerals at short notice. If your weekdays are flexible, we’d especially like to hear from you. Funeral requests often come with only a few days’ notice.
We send you the music list and scores in good time, and we handle all liaison with the parish and the family.
How the contribution works for singers
We’ll be straightforward about this. Families and couples make a contribution for each booking, which we publish openly on our contributions page. After the costs of that booking are covered, such as sheet music and coordination, the contribution is shared among the singers and musicians who sing it.
It isn’t a salary, and none of us does this for the money. But your time, travel and rehearsal are real, and we think they should be recognised fairly. We’ll tell you what your share is before you accept a date.

A note for parish music directors
We are not recruiting away from your choir. The singers who join us keep their parish commitment first. They sing with us occasionally, on dates that don’t clash with their parish duties, alongside the choir they already serve.
Many couples and families have no parish choir to call on, especially for weekday funerals and mixed-marriage weddings. We try to fill that gap, not compete with parish music ministries. If you’d ever like to talk about how we work, please get in touch. We’d be glad to hear from you.
Questions singers ask
Do I have to leave my parish choir to sing with Cantico?
No. We ask the opposite: keep your parish commitment first. Singers join us occasionally, on dates that don't clash with their parish duties. We are not a replacement for your parish choir, and we'd never ask you to choose between us. Most of the people who sing with us are active in their own parish music ministry.
How often would I be asked to sing?
As often as you like, and no more. When a booking comes in, we ask singers whose voice part and availability fit. You choose which dates to accept, and there's no minimum commitment. Some singers take a few weddings a year; others with flexible weekdays help with funerals more often.
Are singers paid?
Yes. After the costs of each booking are covered, the contribution is shared among the singers and musicians who sing it. It isn't a salary, but it fairly recognises your time, travel and rehearsal. We'll always tell you your share before you accept a date, so there are no surprises.
